Today we want to showcase the founder and CEO of the Adventures with Luna and Friends book series, Alejandra Santaolalla! Alejandra is a current member of the Grow My Business class in Alexandria this Spring.

unnamed-4Alejandra was born in Mexico and moved to the United States when she was 7-years old. She quickly adapted to American culture and English became her dominant language. It wasn’t until she was a young adult that Alejandra saw being bilingual as a strength. However, having two cultural influences in her life was sometimes challenging. “Although I consider both Mexico and the US my home, I found myself feeling like I didn’t belong to either culture,” she said “I didn’t see the stories of bicultural kids reflected in mainstream media.”

Alejandra’s experiences growing up bicultural inspired her to launch her business of children’s bilingual books that promote multicultural awareness and girl’s leadership and empowerment. “There are so many beautiful stories from kids of all cultures,” she said and it is her passion to share those stories with the world. Alejandra embraces and practices her Spanish heritage by proudly speaking Spanish and reading Spanish literature.
