Alexandria Commission for the Arts – To ensure the continued prominence of these arts, the Alexandria City Council created the Alexandria Commission for the Arts in 1984, to lead and advocate for cultural development within the City of Alexandria and surrounding region, to stimulate artistic excellence and make these arts accessible to all Alexandrians.
Americorps Vista Program – AmeriCorps VISTA is the national service program designed specifically to fight poverty. VISTA members commit to serve full-time for a year at a nonprofit organization or local government agency, working to fight illiteracy, improve health services, create businesses, strengthen community groups, and much more.
The National Endowment for the Arts – To date, the NEA has awarded more than $4 billion to support artistic excellence, creativity, and innovation for the benefit of individuals and communities. The NEA extends its work through partnerships with state arts agencies, local leaders, other federal agencies, and the philanthropic sector.
