Financial Empowerment

Dates: Tuesdays, Sept 6, 2011 – Sept 4, 2012, 6:30-8:30pm

Classes: 12 sessions

Location: EWI Offices, 1801 N Quaker Lane, Alexandria, VA 22302

Empowered Women’s Center for Financial Empowerment is a newly launched program that will provide women with a safe haven to discuss money and the challenges they face surrounding their finances. The course will provide mentoring and coaching for all participants, and will also require accountability to each other in an effort to improve women’s financial futures.

All classes will be held from 6:30pm-8:30pm on the 1st Tuesday of every month beginning Tuesday, September 6, 2011. The classes will run for 12 months and selected students will commit to attend all classes. Priority is given to women students, who will commit to attend all classes.

2011-2012 Financial Empowerment Course Syllabus

Month 1- Confronting and Overcoming Fear of Money

Month 2-  Creating a budget

Month 3-  Planning for your future

Month 4-  Using a bank and other financial institutions

Month 5-  Basic Investments and their purpose

Month 6-  Health, Life, Disability and P&C  Insurance

Month 7-  Taxes and what you need to know

Month 8-  Pricing your product or service

Month 9-  Understanding credit and your score

Month 10-  Loans and methods of borrowing

Month 11-  Social Security, Medicare and other government programs

Month 12-  Estate Planning Basics

 

Samantha Fraelich, EWI’s course trainer is a Certified Financial Planner® practitioner with Bernard R. Wolfe & Associates in Chevy Chase, Maryland.

Samantha has over a decade of experience in Wealth Management with previous positions at UBS Financial and National Wealth Advisors in Naples, Florida before joining Bernard R. Wolfe & Associates.  She earned her bachelors degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.  Samantha is a native of Munroe Falls, a suburb of Cleveland, OH.

She is a Registered Representative of National Financial Partners and resides in Bethesda, MD.  Samantha is very involved in female networking organizations throughout Montgomery County and is a Co-Director of Women Ambassadors for Business-Montgomery County, a board member of Empowered Women International and member of Women Business Owners of Montgomery County and the American Association of University Women.
