EWI is honored to be selected as the chosen charity by the IDB Theatre Club this year, which donates the profits of each production to an organization that works in benefit of the Latin American and the Caribbean region and/or the Hispanic community in the USA.
Directed by: Luis Simón
Little betrayals is a comedic-drama written by Colombian actor, director and play writer Rodrigo Rodriguez. Little Betrayals was named the winner of the 2010 Hispanic Playwriter Competition organized by the IDB’s Theatre Club, as part of the 50th Anniversary of the Bank. The play was selected among 200, received from 17 countries.
The play takes place in the year 2050, in a time where human interaction remains as convoluted and humorous as in the present day, but with the additional burden of unsound technology. In this surreal setting, the characters deal and plot with a series of “minor betrayals”, ranging from personal to political, all in the pursuit of a utopia but constricted by a continual loss of power. The play invites the audience to reflect on complex topic such as gender, genetics, ethics and illustrates the human values in the near future in a comedic setting.
