Women Entrepreneurs as Peacemakers at George Mason University

October 20, 2009, EWI artists and Marga Fripp will be present at Women Entrepreneurs as Peacemakers at George Mason University

12pm – Catered Lunch and Discussion with Dorothy Tuma, President of Women’s Center for Job Creation, Minnesota and Uganda.  WMST has been collaborating with WCFJC since November 2008 with the Bulondo Goat Project and the Mason Community has sponsored 38 goats for women heads of households in Uganda.  Dorothy will be presenting slides and telling us about her programs.  JC 240K.

4:30pm – Women Entrepreneurs as Peacemakers Panelists are Dorothy Tuma, President of the Womens Center for Job Creation (WCFJC), Marga Fripp, President of Entrepreneurship Academy for Artists and Empowered Women International, and Barbara Moller, President of Voices for Global Change and founder of Paper to Pearls for a roundtable discussion about their experience as peace makers promoting self sustainability for women in Uganda and in the United States.  JC Meeting Room F.

Marga Fripp at Artomatic talking about the Business of Art


Marga Fripp, Art Marketing Coach and EWI president was invited to talk about the business of art at Artomatic. Over 50 artists attended the Artomatic panel on The Art of Doing Business organized and moderated by Jody Walsh, Artist and Marketing Expert. Panelists included Elyse Harrison of the Neptune Gallery, Trudy Van Dyke: Independent Curator, Marga Fripp, Art Marketing Coach and Nancy Prager, WALA Volunteer Attorney.

After the talk I took a tour of Artomatic and I was very impressed and inspired to see so many of the artists we coached and trained being featured at Artomatic: Stephanie Bianco, Edith Graciela Sanabria, Irina Avilova, Sheldon Reiffenstein, Caren Quinn among many others.

Charlene McClelland gave our artist students an insightful talk on how to present and sell art for gift shops and retails, reviewed artist works, and provided feedback and recommendations for retail.
