EWI Executive Director Marga Fripp, Former Intern Rashida Moore and Brianna Pippens

Post-graduate life can be difficult to navigate at times, but there are those stops along the journey where you recognize the potential you have to make a difference. Empowered Women International has been one of those places for me. My experience with EWI as the Marketing and Communications Intern over the past 6 months has been wonderful. I have been able to learn, grow and contribute is ways that I have never had the opportunity to before. From assisting with events to writing blog posts, I was able to take on new and exciting tasks with guidance, encouragement and the support of a team of empowered women. Being able to meet  and work with the remarkable EWI entrepreneurs coming from diverse backgrounds with compelling stories,  has truly been inspiring.

One of the highlights of during my time here was the Artisan Gifts & Food Marketplace, being able to help with the event marketing and then seeing everything come together on the day of the event was such a memorable occasion. Another highlight would be attending the ETS Business Plan Pitch event for the Alexandria class. That night I really saw and felt the power of EWI. The entrepreneurs were so passionate about their business ideas and being able to hear their stories of growth within the program on their entrepreneurial journey was so captivating and very moving.

As an artist with hopes of starting my own arts education non-profit one day , I have really appreciated being able to see behind the scenes how a non-profit organization works. The dynamic team work and collaborative spirit in the office for the betterment of the women we serve is something that I will alway admire. The team at EWI is so connected and dedicated to the mission and I know EWI will continue to grow and flourish because of the emphasis and value that is bestowed upon creating an environment that is conducive not only to the growth of the entrepreneurs but also it’s staff, interns and volunteers.

Since I have been here I have been embracing my own entrepreneurial spirit and would like to share my artwork portfolio: http://cargocollective.com/briannapippens as well as my music: https://soundcloud.com/brianna-pippens. I love art and performing and since I have at EWI I have felt nothing but encouragement to what I love.

I would like to the thank everyone on the EWI team for contributing to my wonderful internship experience here as well as the entrepreneurs that have brought inspiration to my life. I know that there are more great things ahead for EWI and am grateful to have experienced some of the magic!
