African Performance & Culinary Feast, April 30th

Culinary Griots with EWI artist member, Vera Oye' Yaa-Anna

Echoes of the African Sound: a Performance & Culinary Feast produced by Palaver Hut and its Founder and EWI artist member, Vera Oye’ Yaa-Anna will take place on Saturday April 30th, 2011 at 7:00 P.M. at The Nave – St Marks Episcopal Church, 118 3rd Street, SE, Washington, DC 20003. Proceeds benefit Vera’s Culinary Programs for Children.

You are invited to experience master Kora players, storytellers, drummers, dancers, enthusiastic stilt walkers, exciting youth steel drummers and the Banjo African ancestor. Elevate your African sound and feasting experience. African music has a rich diversity of sound with roots dating back many thousands of years. Today, many instruments used by African musicians originated centuries ago. Often the skill of playing a particular instrument passes down through generations of a family. Read more
